"STUCK!" is a project created to raise funds and awareness on the issue of animal cruelty in the performance industry. It promotes the idea that
humans should not be dominating animals' destinies because of our development advantages. Instead we should be equal and live under the same blue sky with respect and understanding. By using blind box toys as deliverables, consumers can enjoy their purchase while also donating to the animal communities in need, and gather information on the issue from the facts included within the package to develop a general understanding thus avoiding correlated events in the future.
The project highlights the plight of animals in entertainment, confined in small enclosures and effectively "stuck." This concept is reflected in both character design and packaging.
I created six designs—rabbit, tiger, parrot, seal, orca, and monkey—each trapped in its specific context. For example, the "rabbit in a hat" trick, common in magic acts, often involves handling that causes pain and injury. Similarly, orcas in marine parks live in tanks drastically smaller than their natural range, forcing them to circle endlessly. Confinement leads to distress, self-harm, and aggression, often resulting in premature death. To symbolize this suffering, the orca is encased in a tight resin-cast tank.
